CAD Systems Analyst
- This position will work directly with the Manager of Engineering to develop engineering AutoCAD standards, drawing procedures, document control and transmittal applications, and design new information technology systems as needed. The CAD Systems Analyst will provide Engineering Application Support which includes AutoCAD & Inventor administration and workstation support as well as general IT/Engineering liaison functions.
- Duties include providing technical support and administering mechanical CAD packages for 50+ end users at the company, specifically:
- Manage databases for ME packages – integrity, procedures, cleanup, etc.
- Support soft-copy control development/implementation.
- Manage software – licenses, maintenance agreements, additional tools, upgrades, etc. Work with IT to define/manage hardware requirements.
- Serve as primary help desk contact for CAD and Inventor packages.
- Provide or organize training to CAD and Inventor users as required.
- Develop / manage relationship with vendors and external design houses to enable variable capacity – short term use of external designers to get through crunches.
- Provide backup designer capability as time is available.
- Application monitoring such that the software license keys are available through the network.
- Verify the electronic license key sheets are accurate and the annual software maintenance charges are correct.
- Manage the CAD software application upgrade projects - be aware of the new features and changes made in the next release of the software and its impact on the Business.
- Plan and coordinate global software rollout and the necessary end user training.
- Partner with the Information Technology Infrastructure team to establish the engineering desktop and laptop configurations. Make sure that the associated databases are running properly.
- A high level of knowledge of the corresponding Product Data Management tools such as such as Pro/Intralink is required.
- Skills Required:
- Advanced knowledge of HTML, ASP, ASP.Net 2.0 (VB.Net), MS SQL Server, IIS 6.0, MS Access, DreamWeaver, Visual Studio 2005, FTP, VBscript, Javascript, Visual Basics.
- Experience with XHTML, CAD/Solidworks Applications, PDM methodology and Macromedia Flash.
- Knowledge and demonstrated experience with cross-browser and cross-platform issues.
- Experience Required
- Multiple ME cad packages, specifically AutoCAD 2009 and Inventor 2009.
- Power-user or similar AutoCAD/Inventor support role
- Relational databases, SQL
- Experience using scripts and batch commands
- Excellent written/verbal skills, strong results focus
- Training / user support ability
- 5+ years in these areas
Valuable (some significant subset of these required):
- EE/ME integration CAD experience a plus
- Experience with contract designers a plus
Experienced Designers
- This position creates and delivers drawings for structural building projects, including, but not limited to, industrial concrete and steel structures. Assist in design of projects of all sizes with defined cost parameters.
- Design a general arrangement of a material handling system
- Create workable steel drawings for a detailer
- Detail steel drawings to be sent to a fabricator
- Create an erection drawing of details for easy field erection
- Design a layout that is functional and practical
- Release drawings to fabricator
- Any other tasks as necessary
- Skills Required:
- Associate’s degree in Drafting
- Must be a highly organized and responsible individual with at least five years experience using Autocad to design bulk material handling systems, preferably coal. 3D experience with Inventor software helpful.
Lead Designer
- The lead designer is responsible for managing all of the draft work on specific projects, including managing a team of employees and communicating with project managers, clients, and vendors.
- Duties:
- Directs his or her team to perform all of the required design work for a project including the layout and design through the detail work.
- Responsible for carrying out the directions of the project engineer, making duplicate prints and drawing transmittals, maintaining engineering files, and assisting the project engineer in development of bills of material and materials list.
- Skills Required:
- Able to successfully manage people and projects
- Good communication skills and ability to work with outside clients and vendors
- Motivated self-starter with initiative and desire to succeed as a team leader
- Attention to detail and highly organized individual
- Associate Degree in Computer Aided Drafting
- 8 to 10 years of experience or currently holding the position
- Auto Cad
- 3D Inventor helpful
