Supporting the group of processing experts is an experienced group of highly trained layout and design draftsmen, all of whom are proficient in the advanced computer drafting and design technologies.

These are the Key Personnel that spearheaded Taggart’s growth from a US only engineering company to a leader in the international coal preparation design and construction market:

Richard L. McCormick, Jr. - President & CEO

Richard has been a key member of Taggart since 2001 when he joined the Company as the Managing Director responsible for developing operations in China. Richard has over 20 years experience in coal preparation including the areas of operations, process and material handling design, construction, and process equipment design and application. Prior to joining Taggart, Richard was Vice President of Conn-Weld Industries, Inc.

Richard McCormick has Bachelors of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from West Virginia University.

Larry A. Watters – Director of Process Engineering and Marketing

Larry is a founding member of Taggart and has served as a Managing Director of Taggart since 1993. Larry has over 30 years experience in the coal preparation industry including the areas of operations, process and material handling design, construction, plant start-up, and operator training.

Larry graduated from University of Washington with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Metallurgical Engineering. He has been a member of the Society for Mining, Metallurgy and Exploration Inc. - American Institute of Mining, Metallurgical and Petroleum Engineers (SME-AIME) since 1972.

Daniel S. Placha – Director of Operations

Daniel is a founding member of Taggart and is currently the Managing Director overseeing engineering and project management. Daniel has over 20 years experience in coal preparation plant operation, process and material handling design, project engineering, commissioning and operator training. Daniel started his career in 1985 as an engineer with Kaiser Engineers, and later became a senior process engineer with CLI Corporation.

Daniel holds a Bachelor of Science in Mining Engineering from the Pennsylvania State University.

David Lyle Spalding – Director of International Construction

David Lyle Spalding is the President of Southern Cross Construction Company, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Taggart Global. Lyle has more than 25 years experience in construction, including construction management, estimating and company management, with work experience in Australia, USA, China and Brazil.
