Management Team

Rick has been a key member of Taggart since 2001 when he joined the company as Managing Director, responsible for operations in China. Rick has over 20 years of experience in coal preparation across all areas of operation, process, material handling design, construction, and process equipment design and application. Prior to joining Taggart, Rick was one of the original directors of Conn-Weld, and helped manage the company from a start-up to a multi-million dollar operation. He developed the China market for Conn-Weld beginning in 1997, and later led Taggart into China. Rick has a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from West Virginia University. Rick has been a member of the Society for Mining, Metallurgy and Exploration Inc. –American Institute of Mining, Metallurgical and Petroleum Engineers (SME-AIME) since 1982.

Ken Lund has been a key member of Taggart’s executive management team since 2005, when he joined the company as executive vice president and General Counsel, responsible for the company’s legal and financial operations. Named president of Taggart in 2010, Ken is responsible for managing the company’s day-to-day business operations and executing the policies and strategies of Taggart’s CEO and Board of Directors. Ken has over 20 years of experience in the private legal sector counseling public and private firms on all aspects of construction and engineering projects. Prior to joining Taggart he was a partner at K & L Gates, LLP, an international law firm with 35 offices around the world. As a part of the firm’s Construction and Engineering Practice Group, Ken specialized in the negotiation of commercial agreements, insurance and lien law, and the resolution of disputes through mediation, arbitration and litigation. Ken is a member of the American Bar Association in the Construction Law Section and the Pennsylvania State Bar Association. He earned a Bachelors of Arts Degree in Economics from Yale University and a Juris Doctor Degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law.

A founding member of Taggart, Larry has served as a Managing Director for the company since 1993. Larry has over 30 years of experience in the coal preparation industry, particularly in the areas of operations, process and material handling design, construction, plant start-up, and operator training. He graduated from the University of Washington with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Metallurgical Engineering. Since 1972, he has been a member of the Society for Mining, Metallurgy and Exploration Inc. –American Institute of Mining, Metallurgical and Petroleum Engineers (SME-AIME).

Dan is a founding member of Taggart and has served as a Managing Director since 1993 and currently oversees engineering and process management. Dan has over 20 years of experience in coal preparation plant operation, process and material handling design, project engineering, commissioning and operator training. He started his career in 1985 with Kaiser Engineers and later became a senior process engineer with CLI Corporation. Dan holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mining Engineering from Pennsylvania State University, and has been a member of the Society for Mining, Metallurgy and Exploration Inc. – American Institute of Mining, Metallurgical and Petroleum Engineers (SME-AIME) sine 1982.

Kelley has over 15 years of experience in leadership roles in finance, accounting, marketing, and human resources. She has worked for both publicly-held and privately-held companies in manufacturing, software engineering, and now in the engineering and construction field. Prior to joining Taggart, Kelley was the Director of Finance and Administration at Lucas Systems during a time the company quadrupled in size. Kelley had primary responsibility for the day-to-day operations and financial control of the company. Before that, Kelley was with Respironics in a number of key areas, during a time the company grew tenfold. Kelley holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Finance from Pennsylvania State University and a Masters of Business Administration from Carnegie Mellon University’s Tepper School of Business.

John has responsibility for handling Taggart’s legal and commercial affairs in the domestic and international arenas and also serves as the Company’s Corporate Secretary. Prior to joining Taggart, John was in-house counsel to Lockheed Martin Corporation at their Simulation, Training & Support division in Orlando, Florida where he specialized in the negotiation of commercial and government contracts, mergers & acquisitions, intellectual property matters, international joint ventures, commercial disputes and other general corporate matters. John is a member of the Pennsylvania State Bar Association and holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Yale University, Juris Doctorate and MBA Degrees from the University of Pittsburgh and a Masters in International Law from Georgetown University Law Center.
